Bro have you ever been in the studio with an SSL board real board I wonder😂
Like what you said bro just optimistic that's all
The buttons tell you bro minus three minus 6 that's where they're there for and you don't know and you're making videos😂
Bro they've been dumbing us down so from analog to digital is a total different sound tape to digital is a different sound so our ears are being played😂😂
Lindell def
Yeah!
What is the email address to reach you at? The mixcoach email I had sent me a autoreply that the address didnt exist
I did not try this plug in but I have BX SSL4000E and its amazing. Love it on everything. So clean, so alive yet so warm and analog.
I watched one of your older tutorials from years and years ago about this "magic SSL E-channel" and have used it ever since, but I do remember you using the "Split" function in the filter in the older one
Just used the SSL E and SSL EV channel strips in conjunction with the waves H. Comp on the Lead Guitar and Mains track. I like what the overall mix was - nice and warm sounding.
great plugin but i personal dont use the filters on it as they dont cut out the lower frequecies enough
This is a fantastic video tutorial. I have 2 questions: 1. I have the SSL EV2 channel, is it way different from the E and G channel? 2. Since the SSL EV2 channel has a compressor, do I need to insert another compressor or that one will be fine?
This method is king 👑
🤣 "Promo SM"
If you have a session with 50 VST instruments and 300 tracks, and PT saves every min, I would like to see you at the process :) Because you would experience some freezes while PT is saving such a big session. And moreover, to avoid these unpredictable PT crashes I did very simple thing: I switched the DAW. :)
I almost doin this to my everyvocal. Thats sounds me better than other classic compressor
Super helpful video even after 10 years my bro appreciate the knowledge 🙏🏾
THIS IS HOW TO USE THE SSL 4000 E. Love this. We just re-learned how to use our SSL; Filter and Compress to hear what you want to EQ... or not. And if you push the EQ pass -6dB on the compression meter, just readjust that Ratio knob until you're back to hitting between -3dB to -6dB again. For a bonus, try the Waves SSL with the NLS and/or the Plugin Alliance BX SSL 4K E plugin with their multiple channel modeling. Thanks for sharing this Kevin!
Good stuff, thanks. I like how the 1176 and the LA2A smooth all my crunchy guitar tracks down in the mix...now I can hear the vocals better. I haven't used the LA3A yet...sounds like I should.
Would love to hear it!
Do you not have the CLA-3A? That's emulating an LA-3A.
To my ears, I could hear the compressor clamping down on the guitar sound, and it added some grit. Compressor two seemed to add more sustain to the sound without having the clamped down sound. It sounded more consistent over time than the first compressor. Compressor number three sounded similar to compressor two, but with more finesse, and more control. It had a certain character that I cannot really describe. I guess it would depend on what type of sound you were going for. Thanks for sharing this video. It was really helpful!
Great video thanks, actually put my control room on the Internet so I could listen through my speakers
I set up my split and channel out first also! I wish it was default like that
First time I've seen anyone use the 20:1 setting for vocals. Going to try this out
Great tip. I find if you go more than 2-3 db on the LA2A, it seems to fall apart.
so basically the threshold control is useless. Just keep it always fully cranked to the lowest side and you're fine!
I now have a CLA-2A preset named "Kevin Ward Magic" for strummed Guitar. XD I am quite sure I'll be using that a lot. I was messing around with other tracks using it in ProTools, and those settings are super versatile. I really love how it somehow pulls out warmth of whatever track it is put on, making the track seem to bloom.
Je vais faire comme vous! Bonne idée!👍🙏
Thank you. I’ve been doing this in logic. Glad pro tools has it as well.
very interesting
I really like the texture and openness the SSL EV2 has in the low mids. I feel like that in context of the mix, it is not trying to distract from the lead elements, but transparently adds character. I gotta say that the Lindell 80 is ear candy when it comes to those initial transients and open mid range. It is a funny thought that with fast attacks, it makes the track seem lighter & brighter without the help of eq because it is clamping down on the tonal body of the signal/the second half of the transient which carries more impact. It would seem that I could be a lot more gentle with my Hi-Shelf boosts, post compressor, since the signal is already perceived to be brighter. I'll have to test out the opposite effect with very fast attack compressors... though that would most likely only be useful for background elements since it would seemingly discard the dynamics of the track too much for anything that is a lead. Ty 4 the vid!😄
I thought the Lindell sounded really good. That release on the compressor gives it attitude!
@@MixCoach That is so true!
The Lindell 80 is currently my favorite channel strip. doesn't matter what genre I'm working in. Sometimes I just load it on all the channels and turn it on. It adds something to the upper mid that really pushes the mix up close to you.
I’m a fan too. Gonna take a lot to replace my SSL though. Lol
Love that Lindell 80!
Life saver
Glad it helped!
Q can be modified by using right click on mouse, excellent feature. Faster in my workflow.
Excelent Thank you 👍👍
Welcome 👍
Good info Kevin. Thanks a bunch.
You bet!
Wow, nice demo Kevin! I thought the guitar part was particulary effective.
Hey, thanks! Me too Ben.
I tried downloading your awesome preset but I only get a Confirm Subscription in my email
Thanks for letting me know. I’ll fix that and send it your way.
Finally upgraded from PT 11. This is so much easier than VCA 🙂 Thanks Kevin.
Great to hear!
Thanks Kevin, awesome demonstration!
My pleasure! Thanks Andy 😀
🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was GREAT info! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Question do you have this template for sale
Email me. Kevin@mixcoach.com I’ll see what I can do!
This great! Thank you. I make dancehall music but your tutorials have helped a lot. Thank you
Great to hear!

Sucked way too long
What can I say? I’ve said too much. Lol
Great trick that I love using on vocals. Sometimes after I commit, the gain of the waveform decreases, sometimes by -10. Do you know how to fix that without having to gain or trim the track after committing? Thank you
Haven’t noticed that! I’ll look
Any idea on what Im doing wrong, and is there a master output fader on melodyne that Im missing?@@MixCoach
Sick
I forgot about this as well. The beauty of this technique is that the tool seems to be more of a detail level control rather than a compressor since the transits don't seem to be affected based on a compressor's attack/release setting.
